Broadcast
Television
NBC became the first Ku-band satellite-delivered network by using a GE Americom satellite, and PBS currently delivers programming to its broadcast affiliates and educational networks via our satellites. Commercial broadcasters use our Ku-band satellite services to distribute network feeds and provide news and special events to broadcast stations. Our fleet of hybrid (C and Ku-band) satellites, at prime orbital locations, provide our customers with the specific broadcast video solutions they and their customers on demand.
We deliver the global reach that domestic and international broadcasters require. Our California and Hawaii earth stations provide key access to satellite systems in the Pacific Ocean Region. Our East Coast satellite facility in Vernon Valley, New Jersey, provides access to the Atlantic Ocean Region. At GE Americom, we also provide interconnects for domestic distribution and turnarounds with connectivity to New York, Los Angeles and Denver.
Our new Customer Service Center ensures that all your broadcast requirements are met, including small order occasional bookings. The center enables customers to access the computerized Satellite Transponder Availability and Reservation System (STARS). Our breakthrough broadcast television services enable companies of all sizes to deliver exceptional programming - via C and Ku-band full-time transponders; occasional and bulk-hour transponder services; or compressed digital video services/SCPC. In addition, we can provide 50-state coverage, plus the Caribbean and Central America; a variety of protection levels and service terms to meet customer' needs; 24-hour monitoring to ensure quality transmission; and domestic and international uplinks.
Radio Services
The GE satellite fleet plays an integral role in the distribution of radio material via the premiere radio programming neighborhoods in the U.S. Our satellites deliver critical feeds to more than 6,000 network affiliates nationwide, and we provide analog and digital services for both C-band and Ku-band applications to radio programmers across the country.
We continue to achieve higher standards of commercial radio services by pioneering innovations that work for our customers. GE Americom again led the industry in developing and delivering Digital Audio Transmission Service (DATS) to radio station affiliates, and today we continue to lead the way in defining standards for high quality audio transmission. National, regional and specialized networks benefit from our Single Channel Per Carrier (SCPC) services as well.
Our GE-8 satellite continues as the premiere address for radio services providing analog and digital SCPC service; transponder, bandwidth and power tailored to customer needs; and a variety of protection levels with service terms to meet customers' business requirements. GE-8 replaced Satcom C5 in March, 2001.
