Woodbine Earth Station
GE Americom's Woodbine Earth Station is situated in central Maryland, convenient to both Baltimore and the nation's capital, Washington, DC. The station is host to three major support functions, crucial to Americom's business plan.
The Satellite Access Control Center, SACC, is a 7 X 24 operation, responsible for the spectral management of six satellites supported by the Woodbine facility. Working closely with our customers, the SACC insures that all services are operating within the proper spectral parameters. In addition, the SACC will access hundreds of Satellite News Gathering (SNG) operators daily from all parts of the country. In this capacity the SACC works closely with all the major networks to insure that the video feeds are set up on time and within the correct parameters.
The Network Management Center, NMC, is a 7 X 24 operation providing first level help support to Americom's Commercial and Government customers operating custom satellite-based communication networks. Using extensive remote monitor and alarms systems, the NMC can quickly diagnose and correct network problems that may arise.
The Tracking, Telemetry and Command, TT&C, center is a 7 X 24 operations center responsible for monitoring the position and status of a large portion of Americom's satellite fleet. Spacecraft controllers monitor satellite position and status, and send commands to keep the satellite in position and its systems performing normally. Spacecraft Analysts study performance and design normal and emergency satellite control routines.
The Woodbine Earth Station has 13 Ku-Band antennas and 6 C-Band antennas and a fleet of transportable C- and Ku-Band antennas to support their mission.
