Pax Net, Nations Newest Network, to Launch on GE-1

PRINCETON, NJ, May 12, 1998 GE American Communications, Inc. (GE Americom), a subsidiary of GE Capital Services, announced today that PAX NET, the nations newest broadcast network, has selected GE-1 to distribute its broadcast television and cable programming nationwide. PAX NET is the latest of the many quality broadcast and cable television services calling GE-1 its home.

According to the agreement, PAX NET, a Paxson Communications Corporation subsidiary, will use its C-band transponder on GE Americoms GE-1 satellite to provide national distribution for a wide array of family entertainment based programming. Including all pending acquisitions, construction projects, divestitures and other transactions, Paxson will broadcast via a total of 78 television stations in markets reaching more than 72 million US TV households, including stations in each of the top-20 markets as well as 43 of the nations top-50 markets.

"This distribution agreement to deliver PAX NET programming on GE Americoms GE-1 satellite demonstrates significant progress toward our operating strategy of bringing PAX NET family programs into as many US television households as possible. Paxson Communications owns and operates the nations largest group of television stations. Supported by these assets, Paxson will launch PAX NET, the national family entertainment network, on August 31, 1998. The foundation of the networks prime-time schedule includes the off-network hit series Touched By An Angel, Promised Land, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and Diagnosis Murder. Additionally, the line-up includes Ill Fly Away, Daves World, Life Goes On, Christy, The Father Dowling Mystery Series and Neon Rider, as well as dozens of theatrical and made-for-television movies.

GE-1 features an advanced platform that offers greater reliability, flexibility, system redundancy and service life than previous designs. GE-1 predominantly serves the cable and broadcast television communities. GE-1 is a hybrid satellite carrying both C-band and Ku-band transponders with a service reach that includes all fifty states and the Caribbean region.

With over 20 years of experience, GE Americom is known as a pioneer in satellite distribution of television entertainment programming. One of the worlds largest satellite operators, GE Americom currently operates eleven satellites providing satellite-based solutions for North America.
