BT CONTRACTS FOR TRANSPONDER ON GE-1E

GE Americom, announced today that BT Broadcast Services (BT) contracted for a transponder on GE-1E, thus establishing a base for a cooperative service offering between the two companies. This European-wide alliance offers both BT's and GE Americom's customers competitive price/performance value.
"GE 1E with its broad European coverage and high power is a tremendous asset to our inventory," said Malcolm Campbell of BT Broadcast Services. "The versatility of this satellite can be used to satisfy broadcasters in Central and Eastern Europe as well as occasional-use customers throughout the whole of Europe," added Campbell.
BT, as the UK's leading telecommunications company, has been working in partnership with broadcasters since the beginning of broadcasting in the UK over 60 years ago. BT Broadcast Services is the unit of BT dedicated to providing communication services tailored for broadcasters worldwide and is regarded as a leading supplier of global broadcast solutions. BT Broadcast Services is the largest European user of satellite space with a global presence with a network of its own satellite earth stations around the world including the USA and teleports developed with partners in Asia. These facilities provide end to end satellite transmission services to or from anywhere in the world. BT provides direct to home and inter-studio or broadcaster services using satellite capacity from the major satellite operators.

In Europe, GE-1E provides high-powered Ku-band service for European and Middle East video and broadband data markets. GE Americom's European customers include broadcasters, uplink service providers, corporations with private networks, cable programmers and ISPs.
