State-of-the-Art Satellite-based Platform Enables XY.tv to Reach Gen X and Y Audiences

SES AMERICOM’s Internet Gateway Facilitates Innovative Content Delivery

PRINCETON, NJ -- March 29, 2004 -- SES AMERICOM, an SES GLOBAL Company (Luxembourg and Frankfurt Stock Exchanges: SESG), announced today that XY.tv, a 24-hour network of original lifestyle and entertainment shows designed for 12 to 34 year olds, has signed on with SES AMERICOM for innovative program staging and satellite distribution services. XY.tv is delivering live and recorded programming over the Internet to SES AMERICOM’s Internet gateway and satellite uplink facilities in Woodbine, Maryland, where the content is packaged, stored and delivered to cable headends across the country aboard SES AMERICOM’s AMC-1 satellite, one of two satellites that combine to form the Cable2® neighborhood.

XY.tv is a lifestyle television channel combined with an interactive web experience that explores a wide range of topics and issues young people face in today’s world. The brand new channel, which is striving to build an audience and brand with quality programming, has tapped SES AMERICOM’s Cable2® neighborhood for maximum reach.

"While XY.tv is a brand new television experience, offering deep, sharply focused content developed specifically by and for the underserved generation X and Y audience, we needed an innovative satellite industry leader to ensure the reliable distribution of our unique programming," said John Garabedian, founder, president and CEO of XY.tv. "SES AMERICOM has just what we were looking for in a satellite services provider; nearly 30 years of service leadership along with the technology and know-how to enable us to efficiently reach our audiences today and well into the future."

"SES AMERICOM has the next generation programming distribution solutions to meet the news and entertainment demands of every generation," said Carl Capista, vice president of media and entertainment services for SES AMERICOM. "Our Cable2® neighborhood, served in part by the AMC-1 satellite, today reaches more than 61 million cable households, which are home to millions of young people who will find XY.tv programming both compelling and entertaining."

SES AMERICOM’s Cable2® neighborhood, based on the C-band payloads of AMC-1 and AMC-4, now reaches more than 61 million cable households with two dozen national and regional programming services. The neighborhood’s impressive penetration is largely the result of an ambitious program to distribute antennas to cable headends. The close proximity of the two satellites, AMC-1 at 103 degrees west longitude, and AMC-4 at 101 degrees west longitude, enables dual reception of signals from both spacecraft by a single C-band antenna.
