NSAB & SES AMERICOM Announce SIRIUS 2 Beam Transfer

NSAB assumes SIRIUS 2 Pan European Beam and Its Customers

December 5, 2003 Princeton, NJ, USA and Stockholm, Sweden -- SES AMERICOM, an SES GLOBAL Company, (SESG: Luxembourg and Frankfurt Exchanges), and Nordic Satellite AB (NSAB), the Swedish satellite operator and SES GLOBAL partner company, announced an agreement today that will transfer, effective from January 1 2004, the Pan European beam on SIRIUS 2 from SES AMERICOM to NSAB. The beam is composed of thirteen 33 MHz Ku-band BSS transponders and three 36 MHz Ku-band FSS transponders on the SIRIUS 2 satellite located at 5 degrees East Longitude.

Dean Olmstead, President & CEO of SES AMERICOM, commented, ?This rationalization of our satellite resources within the SES GLOBAL family of companies makes eminent sense for us, and more importantly, for our customers. We have effectively solidified our interests and operations at 5º E.L.?

Lennart Hällkvist, President & CEO of NSAB, said, ?Our cooperative relationship with SES AMERICOM has been very successful as evidenced by the full rack of customers that AMERICOM secured for SIRIUS 2 since 1998. We look forward to working with these customers and ensuring that their bandwidth and service requirements are completely addressed. Existing customers will continue to be supported by the SES London-based team.?

SES AMERICOM took commercial responsibility for the high-powered pan European beam on SIRIUS 2 when it became operational in January 1998. Since that time, the SIRIUS 2 location has been recognized as an effective transmission point for diverse programmers and distributors including cable programmers, IP companies, sporting services and increasingly DTH. The current customers using the pan European beam on Sirius 2 includes BT, Discovery, ntl, Kingston Communications, SIS, and Iris Gateways.
