E! Secures its Address in Premier Cable Neighborhood
December 4, 2003 Princeton, NJ SES AMERICOM, an SES GLOBAL company (Luxembourg and Frankfurt Stock Exchange: SESG), announced today that Los Angeles-based E! Networks, Inc. has signed a long-term C-band distribution agreement for transponder service on AMC-10 and AMC-11, the successor satellites to Satcom C-3 and C-4. Beginning in 2004, these satellites will be used for the distribution of E!?s popular entertainment, news and lifestyle-related programming, E! Entertainment Television and Style Network. ?E! Networks deliver captivating programming which appeals to a wide-ranging audience. Their unique service provides an added dimension to the programming already aboard AMC-10 and AMC-11,? said Carl Capista, AMERICOM?s Vice President, Media and Entertainment Services. ?E! Networks underscore SES AMERICOM?s commitment to retaining and growing diverse programming on the AMC-10 and AMC-11 cable neighborhood.? ?We selected SES AMERICOM to continue the distribution of our services because they have demonstrated consistent technical excellence in the operation of their satellites. We expect this high level of service to continue when we transition to AMC-10 and AMC-11 next year,? said Brad Fox, Senior Vice President, Affiliate Relations, E! Networks. AMC-10 and AMC-11, the all C-band next generation satellites planned for operation in 2004, will each have 24 transponders and will be located at 135 degrees and 131 degrees W.L., respectively. Each transponder is supported by at least one 20watt SSPA, delivering almost a 20% increase in power over their predecessors, Satcom C-3 and C-4. In addition, a higher level of on-board redundancy plus an in-orbit protection satellite, AMC-7, currently operating at 137 degrees W.L. will protect the programming services. Programmers can use AMC-11 and its neighborhood partner, AMC-10, to reach over 80 million homes. Already committed to the next generation platform is a diverse array of programming producers including Viacom, C-SPAN, Crown Media, Scripps Networks, A&E Television Networks, Lifetime Entertainment, Discovery Communications, Court TV, NBC, iN DEMAND, The Weather Channel and QVC.
