OVERVIEW:

The Controller, SES AMERICOM coordinates, administers, and controls financial accounting. This position acts as a financial advisor to the Chief Financial Officer by providing financial analysis, strategy, planning and budget control. This person must have a good mix of transactional/practical experience to oversee day-to-day activity and strategic perspective.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

BS in Business, Accounting or Finance
CPA required; MBA preferred
Ten years experience in accounting management, accounting operations, and auditing
Public accounting experience through Manager or Senior Manager level in a multi-national accounting firm and/or experience with multi-national corporations
Strong working knowledge of accounting, auditing, general ledgers and forecasting; specifically the IAS and IFRS (Extensive GAAP knowledge is less desirable)
Demonstrated multicultural experience, i.e. working effectively in one or more foreign assignments
Leadership experience
Knowledge of Excel, Powerpoint, SAP & Cognos
Demonstrated strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
High level of integrity
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both oral and written)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Prepare reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations
Analyze broader business issues and apply the analysis for continuous improvement of day-to-day accounting work
Coordinate the month-end and year-end closing process. (MO)
Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies
Review monthly company financial statements for accuracy and clarity
Play a key role in developing company financial policies and procedures
Provides accounting/controllership assistance for transactional support (i.e. understands accounting issues related to business initiatives)
Work with CFO to develop strategic and long-term goals and regulatory compliance of reporting
