The Communications Satellite Technician has direct customer contact with customers of AMERICOM Government Services transmitting information via the Vendenberg Earth Station and monitors transmission in order to maintain trouble free access. This position also has general responsibility for maintenance of the earth station buildings and its grounds

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

3-5 years of experience working as a technician in a satellite communications field
Demonstrated experience with digital data and communications systems
Demonstrated experience with RF hardware, satellite communications hardware microwave systems and tracking antenna systems
Ability to qualify for a Secret Level U.S. Government Security Clearance

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Troubleshoot and resolve circuit problems at both the earth stations and customer locations
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on satellite communications equipment and building equipment
Monitor performance of customers’ signals to confirm they are operating within assigned parameters
Initiate proper corrective action procedures in the event of a satellite communications equipment failure
The above duties require carrying a company cell phone at all times, responding to off-hour customer circuit problems, and being dispatched for temporary support to other earth stations, as needed
Requires lifting of up to 60 lbs.
